  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/2 cup of raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Additional ground cinnamon for serving

Instructions

  1. Cube the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces and toss with melted butter.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt to make the custard.
  3. Add diced apples and raisins to the bread mixture, then pour the custard over it and fold gently. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
