Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 4 cups (plus extra for dusting)
- Active dry yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet)
- Sugar: 1/4 cup (plus 1 teaspoon for yeast activation)
- Milk: 1 cup (warm, about 110°F or 43°C)
- Butter: 1/2 cup (melted, plus extra for greasing)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Ground cinnamon: 2 teaspoons
- Diced apples: 1 cup (peeled and chopped)
- Chopped pecans: 1/2 cup
- Cream cheese frosting: 1 cup (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk with 1 teaspoon of sugar and the active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and cinnamon. Make a well in the center and add melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Prepare the filling by mixing diced apples, chopped pecans, and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon in a medium bowl.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the apple and pecan mixture over the dough and roll it tightly into a log.
- Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the glaze while the rolls cool. Drizzle or spread cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls before serving.
