Description

Apple Cinnamon Blondies are a delightful dessert that combines the rich, buttery flavor of blondies with the sweet and tart taste of apples, enhanced by warm cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter: 1/2 cup (115 grams), melted
  • Brown sugar: 1 cup (200 grams), packed
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour: 1 cup (125 grams)
  • Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Diced apples: 1 cup (about 2 medium apples)
  • Chopped walnuts: 1/2 cup (optional)
  • Cinnamon sugar (for dusting): 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, and finally stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined, then fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the top while still warm, allow to cool for 10-15 minutes, then cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Choose firm and slightly tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • For gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • For vegan, replace eggs with unsweetened applesauce and butter with coconut oil or vegan butter.
