Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons packed light or dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons beaten egg
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 tablespoon divided)
- Optional: 2 teaspoons sprinkles
Instructions
- Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the beaten egg and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients and fold in chocolate chips.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
- Shape the cookie dough into a tall ball on a lined baking sheet.
- Add reserved chocolate chips and optional sprinkles on top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (177°C) for 18-22 minutes.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough longer for a thicker cookie. Experiment with different chocolate chips and mix-ins.
